Hardiplank over dry vit

We have decided to replace our dryvit siding with hardiplank fibercement. We will tear off the dryvit on all the exposed sides and have talked about siding directly over the dryvit walls that are protected by coverings such as porches. Does this sound like a good idea? Also before we do this can anyone suggest a website with step by step guidelines for this type job?

It kind of depends on how thick of beadboard they used behind the dryvit. James Hardie recommends that their siding should not be installed on foam that is thicker than 1", and recommend that the fastener length be increased by the thickness of the foam. (if a 2" nail is recommended, and the house has 1" foam, then a 3" nail is required).
