floor support needed?

I am finishing a basement and the customer wants me to remove a cinder block wall that currently divides the basement into two seperate rooms. Directly above this removal is a wall that used to be the exterior wall of the house. The house was extended in the pase adding a 10 by 13 room and so was the space below in the basement.
In the basement, the floor joists are supported by a 2 by 6 that spans 13 feet in length. should i place a post or lolly column midway across this span or can the 2 by 6 span the 13 feet by itself.

I would study the situation very carefully before removing that cinder block wall. A single 2 x 6 is not strong enough not is it enough support. It is hard at this end to really be able to help you very much since we do not have enough information. We would hate to tell you something wrong. Good Luck
You may want to have an inspector or engineeer take a look at it. Its always best to be safe.

oh yes I forgot. It is a double 2 by 6, which probably won't make all that much difference. A column still seems like a good idea.
