Talking Warped wood

Is there any way to tell by looking at a board 2x10x12ft. fir (green) if it will warp? Can one look at the growth rings to help tell? I can't find a kiln dried one. I did make a shelf out of a six ft. long and it twisted at one end.

thanks
Don

Don: Here's your written guarantee that the green wood will twist and warp. It is natural for green wood to release the pressures and tensions that are built up in it. Kiln drying removes the moisture and decreases the amount of warping and twisting.
