Vinyle Siding over T1-11?

I am going to put vinyle siding over are t1-11 and towards the top the t1-11 is over lapped as you can see in the pic. If I make furring strips that would bring the siding out past the windows. Is there a way I can use another starter strip?

If you want to continue the existing profile, that is what you could do. Place a j-strip under the overlap pointed down to accept the top of the last piece of siding and start over with another starter strip and continue upward. There are other options, but some would include removing the overlapped t1-11. I wouldn't fur out the remainder of the house, however, as you know the problems in extending the window framing to make it look decent.

Question Vinyle Siding over T1-11?

I would suggest you try to strip it if its not allot, (do it right) this way you can slide the siding under the fascia at the top, otherwise u got to use J with sill trim in it so the details
Doesn’t look the best, and in the long run You may run to water issues, with second starter strip right on the top you need flashing and al the (yade ya),
And beside it will look weird, or to fur all the wall to match the top with strapping or etc
Run your siding all the way in 1 smote run; install a j channel in top with a sill trim in it
If needed,

p.s make sure you don’t bang the nails all the way in (Expansion and Contraction)
About 1/32 of an inch

Good luck

Exclamation Vinyle Siding over T1-11?

What is the reason that the T 111 sticking out at top?
The studs are fur out?
It’s been framed this way?
Is the T 111 used as a seething to cover the house (no ply under?)

Post some more details since you can see more then I do the pic you posted earlier
Don’t help much.

And I believe we can cam with a better solution

I am not sure why the t1-11 is sticking out. The house was built back in 1978 and we bought it in 2003. In the pic you can see the t1-11 overlapping the t1-11. It looks as though they made the roof trusses stick out about 3/4". They are using the t1-11 as seething to cover the house.

Here is another picture. As you can see above the upper story windows is the t1-11 sticking out.

Question re:Vinyle Siding over T1-11?

I get the picture not from close but the idea,
First of the windows below the overlap, what kind of space you got from
Top of the windows to the beginning of the overlapping (the bottom) of the T 111,
Also how far all the windows sticking out of the wall,

Pleas post this details
Then we can go from there

The spacing from the top off the window to the bottom of the t1-11 is about 2". The windows are about 3/4" out from the t1-11.

well looks like I am going to install siding all the way up to the offset and start over. Seems to be going to be the easiest way to do this.
