My pressure washer booklet is full of warnings to not run bleach through it.

I never run any chemicals through my pressure washer. I prefer to use a pump up garden sprayer to apply any cleaner. Bleach [dilute minimum 50%] is necessarry if there is any mildew to be killed/cleaned.

Have either of you used JoMax siding cleaner? Does it help with mildew. I know it is formulated specifically for vinyl siding, but thought it may have "secret" ingredients beneficial for removal of the green.

I haven't used jomax cleaner, I seldom use any of the 'specialty' cleaners. Bleach is cheap and works well for mildew. I think most of the deck and siding cleaners have a bleach substitue which basically does the same thing. If I understand correctly the package cleaners are a little more user friendly because they won't damage the wood if applied too strong or not rinsed soon enough.

As a painter the majority of pressure washing I have done has been incidental to painting and have only washed a few vinyl sided houses.

I have used JoMax in preparation for painting and it works great! I then used Zinsser's paint for the top coat, following the manufacturer's recommendations.
