how to mount shutters over vinyl siding
the vinyl siding on our farm house covers pine sheathing in some areas, but in other areas there is only underlying rigid pink insulating foam board. the problem is that i do not know how to mount plaastic shutters because i do not know where the foam board is vs the pine sheathing. do i use anchors; glue; screws only; find an underlying stud; use only the studs next to the windows??? help, please, as i am baffled and cannot find instructions on the net. also, how do i cover over the screw/nail heads?? is there a web site that has diagram instructions??

i usually use the push type fasteners that come with the shutters. they look like a christmas tree and you drill a hole of a certain size (that correlates with the fastener) through the shutter and into the wall and push the fasteners in, they hold surprisingly well. i have seen the screws that use a small plastic cap that covers the head also.
