Question Rough framing inspection???

Just trying to understand the typical inspection sequence for an addition going on my house. I know things vary areae to area but...

Does the rough framing inspection mean only bare studs and rafters or can the exterior studs be sheathed? The roof sheathed? If yes, can the roof be finished and tied in to the old roof before the rough inspection (concerned about rain).

Thanks guys!

Rough framing inspection???

Check with your local office and see what their requirements are and more importantly, what their preferences are.

It is best to work with the inspector. There are many benefits.

You may learn something to make everything later much easier.

My rough frame allowed for sheathing on the outside walls and roof. But no tyvek on the walls, and only felt on the roof. However, I agree with Concretemasonry that you should check with your local inspector. Also, you may want to see if your Building Department has a Web site. That site may detail what is expected for each step of the inspection process.

I generally don't call for a framing inspection until the roof is and windows are installed and sometimes the siding. If it is only a small job like an additon, I sometimes have the rough plumbing in place to save the inspector a trip. 25 years and no complaints yet.
