Plywood for siding?
Hello,
I need to put in a temporary piece of siding that will be there for a few years (about 15 square feet).
I was thinking of just using a random piece of plywood, primed and painted, for the application, instead of buying siding which will be torn up in a few years anyway.
Any good reason not to do this?
Thanks,
Jon

There is nothing wrong with using plywood in place of siding. T-111 and similiar are basically fancy plywood. The main thing is to make sure it is flashed and or caulked as required to keep it dry behind it.
My house has painted osb on the exterior and has held up well for 15yrs - I never expected to go this long before adding wood siding.......... but maybe next year
