Trim Coil Question

What are the pros and cons of vinyl trim coil vs. aluminum trim coil? Can vinyl be shaped with a metal brake in the same manner as aluminum?

I have never used the vinyl coil, and would suspect it would not brake as nice as aluminum. It would tend to spring back, and weather will cause more expansion and contraction than with the aluminum. Just an opinion.

Trim Coil

Thanks, Larry.

I needed 24 inch wide and was having trouble finding aluminum. I finally went to a locally owned yard and found 24 in. wide vinyl-clad aluminum. The vinyl coating has a wood-grain texture, which I wanted. I rented a brake and finished my porch trim job in one day. This was my first experience using a brake. The job came out pretty good for a novice. Thanks again.

Vinyl trim coil has a textured surface and it bends just like plain aluminum coil. I think it's better since the surface will not chalk like aluminium does after a few years.

Ken: good choice on the vinyl clad aluminum. It would be logical for it to hold its bend and not chaulk like pure aluminum paint.
