what type of siding to use?
I am in the process of finishing a 8 x 10 storage building out back. As of now I am unsure what type of siding I should put on it. All three walls and front is just covered with 7/16th osb board. Anyone have any idea what would be the best and cost efficient way to cover it? the walls are also 8ft tall, so it will be alot of whatever covers it.

fly'nbrian... what you use for siding is completely up to you. I'm a big proponent of fiber-cement siding. You could install trim boards on the corners, which is kind of a traditional look, and then use hardiplank lap siding. It paints well and lasts a long time. The manufacturer does recommend that it be no closer to the ground than 6", so I dunno how your shed sits but that's something to consider. Hardie also makes 4x8 and 4x10 sheets of fiber-cement in various styles: smooth, stucco, sierra 8 (kind of like T1-11, but grooves are eight inch O.C.) Edges break in the middle of the studs, and the gaps between sheets can be caulked or covered with a vertical batten. The corners can be trimmed after the siding is installed or before- its up to you. The 4x8 hardipanel sheets are roughly $25 each in big box stores. For an 8x10 shed you'd need about what, 9 of them? That's pretty reasonable.

i was wondering how expensive vinyl siding would be to cover it, b/c that would look really good. Or maybe a good exterior paint too. I'm just trying to keep the costs down a bit too. Any other suggestions?

9 pieces of 4x8 pieces of siding that I mentioned would cost about $175. 8pc of 1x4 corner boards made of 3/4" Miratec would cost another $100 or so. 1x4 cedar would probably be a little less. If you wanted to save a little you could buy 1x6 and rip it in half instead.
So we're talking under $300.
I'm not sure that 3 sq. of vinyl siding, 4 starter strips, 4 corner posts, some j-channel and finish trim would end up being less than $300. But you could certainly price it out. I'm sure you can find some cheap siding at a big box store.
Siding usually comes in boxes containing 2 sq. Which would mean you'd need to buy 4 sq to do your 3 sq shed. Unless you can buy them buy the piece. I suppose the big boxes sell some colors and brands that way.
