sheathing-3/8 insulation-tyvek or sheathing-tyvek-3/8 insulation
Howdy all,
New vinyl siding going up soon. My siding contractor has suggested installing 3/8 insulated underlayment then on top of that tyvek over wall sheathing.
Is this the proper sequence or should tyvek go on 1st then the insulated underlayment.
I live in the chicago area...cold winters and hot summers. house is circa 1983 no inside vapor barrier. Just worried about condensation and breathability (just maybe made that word up!
thanks!

It doesn't really matter if there are no new windows with nailing flanges being installed. You could skip the Tyvek completely if the seams in the insulation are taped. But if you plan to put on Tyvek, I'd suggest that it be the LAST item installed.
