Cheap "good" used lumber in KY?

I really can't afford the prices for new lumber at places like Lowes, and am wondering if there is cheaper lumber (even if at a slightly lower quality) I can buy in the Kentucky, say near Georgetown or Lexington? I want to build a fence for my 2 acres, fence in my large garden and start building some chicken coops.

Lumber

Find a building that is being torn down and see if you can salvage the lumber. This would keep the lumber out of the land fill. Good luck with your projects.

You may also go to a lumber mill and ask for some of their culls. I live near one, and they even have black locust logs laying out front. I asked why, and they say the black locust will tear up their saws. It is waste to them. Ideal for fence posts. They will last for a century. The culls will be rough cut and will not be dried, so be prepared to stack them for a season or they will warp on you.
