Shingle Knick on siding - Cleaner?

Hi everyone, my first post!

Anyway, i was doing a roofing job (ripping off and replacing shingles) with my dad today. We were pushing the old shingles off the roof into a dump truck and some of the singles knicked the siding leaving black streaks. So we dont really want to spend money out of our pocket to replace all of this siding so i was wondering if there was anything that would clean the marks off of metal/plastic? siding. We tried gasoline but that just smeared it around making big brown blotches.

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

Gasoline is an oily substance, so it will tend to just move the stuff around. Get something like MEK (Methyl Ethyl Keytone) and daub the areas clean. Don't wipe it until most of the black is gone. Hopefully the areas where you used gas hasn't suffered any melting problems. MEK has a higher flash point than gas so it is also safer to use. Let us know how it goes.
