Generally 10" tall vinyl siding, 12' long will have a little less than 10 square feet per piece. A "square of siding" will be 100 square feet, regardless, so 10 pieces would be a "square". Now, some siding is taller, so your square footage will differ. You should measure the height of the house and the length of each wall. Simple multiplication will give you the square footage needed. Don't subtract for windows or doors, as that will be your "waste".
Now, to the point......how did you get yourself into this mess? Installing siding is not as simple as you may think. You have to take into consideration all the j channel, f channel, inside corners, outside corners, crown.....just alot of stuff. Also did you figure soffiting and fascia? Do you know how to brake aluminum stock?
Hope this helped, but I don't think this is a job for someone who has just started. Good luck!

Don't know if your problem has been solved yet, but chandler is right. I've just finished building a simple shed, and putting vinyl siding on it myself. It's turning out to be a pretty big job. I'll be able to finish it, and it will look ok, but there sure is a lot more involved than upon first glance.

I'm going to give siding a go. I hope I factored in all the trim I need. Since I'm replacing the siding, should I also replace the (panel) insulation and put down a moisture-guard before I replace the siding? Seems like a smart move to replace as much as I can afford.

Thoughts?

Hope that answers your question, lol.

But yeah, that's a good idea, getting it all done while you're in there. Kind of like replacing your water pump while you change your timing belt. Might as well while you got it all torn out!
