Lightbulb Stucco to wood trim re-caulking repair

We have a 10 yr old residential stucco customer that wants to re-caulk the stucco and wood brick mold interface around windows and doors. The original stucco installer ran the stucco to the wood and did not build in a margin between the stucco and wood for caulk replacement. We thought to create a small saw kerf next to the wood trim and stucco and then apply a bead of urathane sealant similar to a new installation. How does that sound? Any other alternatives? shall we try to get a close enough caulk color match or use clear caulk? Thanks for the help and expertise in advance.

Since you are going to be matching color, try Big Stretch. It applies well and "stretches" and contracts with the weather. The receptive groove is a good idea

Welcome to the forums!

Is the stucco painted?
Are the windows recessed or is the brick mould on top of the stucco?

Welcome to the forums jlong!

It might be best to check with your local bldg dept. If it needs to be inspected - they are the ones that need to be satisfied.

The brick mold extends past the stucco on the exterior not on top. the stucco has the original color coating. Thanks for responding, appreciated.
