We have recently put a new roof on our Williamsburg style home. I want to paint the shutters and front door but can't decide on a color. Our brick is the oversize handthrown old brick. There is too much Salmon in he brick to use red on the door but there are some greys and rust as well. I am new to this site and if I can figure out how to add a picture I will. The new roof is puter gray high definition. Any help will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums! So you want to throw that problem on us, huh? Not in a hundred years!.....Seriously, post a couple of pictures on a site such as photobucket.com and copy/paste the HTML code to your reply post. We'll see what our colorblind panel has to say.
You will be surprised at some of the responses, as we have a good group of designers and paint people, so send us the pix.

Where in Va do you live?If you are actually in the Williamsburg area you may be in an area governed by a variety of rules concerning acceptable color choices etc.Williamsburg has strict codes concerning this.
Also in many parts of the state various retailers carry "williamsburg" branded or "colonial" color lines in various paint brands. These lines are designed to duplicate and conform to the Williamsburg official colors etc.
I believe the real "Williamsburg" line is by Martin Senour but I also know that Pratt & Lambert has a "colonial" line.Might look for retailers of those brands. Some Ace Hardware stores carry P&L.

The Williamsburg "line" is a set of colors that were selected by the Williamsburg historical society. Sherwin Williams is currently paying for the license for it currently so many of their lines have it available to them. Pratt and Lambert and Martin Senour both falling in that catagory both have it available. Now having said that, usually the dealer has to pay extra to be able to have the colors/formulas so you may find a MS or P&L dealer that won't have them available. If you call around all you have to do is find a dealer that has the color samples, if you don't want to use their paint just have it matched. Good luck!
