siding over mildew
We're planning on putting siding over our wood trim. Is it necessary to remove any mildew that is on that wood? If so...what prep would you recommend? Any suggestions on how to find someone to do that...since I'm just not up to it!
Thanks!

I have been using Jomax for mildew removal with good results. Spray it on, light scrub on tough spots, and hose it off. So yes, I would remove it, would not want that stuff growing under siding. Hope this helps. Bob

Welcome to the forums camaiami!
I agree, don't cover up the mildew!
Jomax is a good cleaner although I usually use a bleach/water solution - it's cheaper
Apply your cleaner with a pump up garden sprayer. Wet the siding with water and then apply the cleaner, let set but not dry and then rinse. While a pressure washer makes the job easier/quicker a garden hose will do an adequate job of rinsing.
If you decide to hire it out, there are contractors that specialize in cleaning exteriors although most any handyman can tackle the job.... even the kid next door, although he may need a little supervision
