Comparing Cost
Can you tell me if it is cheaper to have your house re stuccoed or replaced with siding?

Hard to tell. In order to apply another siding, you would almost always have to remove the stucco and underlayment in order to have a proper setback for the new siding around the windows and doors. Does it just need repairing, or is it totally failing?

Well, the stucco is buldging off the side of the house about half way up and a lot of it has fallen off near the foundation.

In the long run, you may be better off with a change in siding to a more maintenance free type. It will require alot of work, since your existing stucco may need to be removed. Again, it will be difficult for us to tell, since we can't see what you see. In addition, we don't know the method of application of the existing siding, so we are in the dark on that one, too.
If you want, you can post photos of your situation on a site such as photobucket.com and copy/paste the HTML code to your reply post. That way we could see what you see.
