Looking for 12 X 27 Asbestos or Fiber Cement Shingles
I have some cracked 12 X 27 (10.5 inch exposer) wood grain asbestos shingles on my house and GAF only has 12 X 24 shingles in grain texture and I can't find a manufacturer that offers them in 12 X 27. I was thinking of using the 12 X 24 shingles and cutting a 3" strip to fill in the gap but I don't know if that would look good plus there would be only one nail hole. I would also be willing buy a fiber cement shingle longer than 27 inches and cut it down to 27 inches as well as long as its wood grain. Any ideas on the best way to replace my damaged asbestos shingles?

Hi freedom, working with and cutting asbestos materials has it's issues, so I'll assume you are aware of that. I have had occasion to need a match that was unavailable and resorted to replacing the siding on the back of a garage. Since I replaced the entire section, it looked fine. The salvage provided me with what I needed to patch the much larger areas and everyone was happy.

I agree with Bud... carefully removing siding from an inconspicuous area of the house, and using it in the most visible areas is probably your best option. The only problem is removing the stuff without breaking it! If the nails won't pull out easily, you can try cutting them off behind the siding (insert blade under the lap) with a hacksaw blade, or if you're very careful it sometimes will work to carefully grind the head off the nail. Once the head is gone you can usually just slip the siding off the shank of the nail, and then remove what's left. Just a couple ideas to get you going if they help.
