Newbie vinyl repair help

I am attempting to remove and replace a section of vinyl that a branch punched a hole in.

I bought a slip/vinyl siding tool, but am afraid to put too much pressure on the tool and pulling down the siding to unlock it.

Temp here is about 40 degs. Should i wait til temp. gets higher and vinyl is more flexible?

I'd wait until it warms up a little...or at least until its a sunny day with the sun shining on that area.

Esp when older, siding can be brittle even when its warm..
