Vinyl Siding Purchase

I'm looking for a specific type of vinyl siding to match the existing siding on my home, which is 28 years old. I need to patch a small area (about 15 sq ft) where I replaced a window. Local hardware stores do not carry what I need (no surprise). Where should I look, and would I be able to purchase such a small amount at a reasonable cost?

This may be tough - I had a neighbor who added on two years after his house was built and the vinyl had already faded so much the manufacturer could not match the color and ended up residing his entire house (including the addition) for free

Siding and roofing supply houses. If you're in a small town, you may need to do some traveling. ABC Supply is one...but there are plenty of others.

Take a sample with you...

As you probably know, you have to tear off a lot of siding in order to fill in a window, unless you want to have a ugly looking vertical seam that makes it obvious you filled in a window.

Best thing to do on an old house like that is to find one side of the house that is not very visible, like a back corner, behind bushes, etc. and tear off THAT siding and use it where you need it, since it should match perfectly. Then if you end up finding some siding that matches "fairly closely" you can use that siding to replace what you stole from the less visible area of the house.

Its also hard for us to make a specific recommendation sight unseen. You'll probably need to take a sample with you when you go to your local siding supply or local lumber yard. If you had a picture and an overall size, someone might be able to point you in the right direction.

Sorry, I meant to say aluminum siding, not vinyl, and seams won't be an issue, its a bay window.
