Prevent Polyiso Ladder Crush

Hi Guys,

I am FINALLY finishing the last wall of our residing job. The sheathing is covered with 1.5" foil faced foam (Thermax).

How do you guys prevent the extension ladder from crushing the foam where the top of the ladder leans on it? It is driving me nuts!

Thanks!

What kind of siding are you installing?

Vinyl.

As for the crush, I'm talking as I am installing the foam itself. I know that as I am siding the planks will distribute the weight, but I'm talking about prior to siding (or places where I have to extend the ladder past the top course of siding).

I attach a board with thin rope, wire or duct tape to the top of the ladder. Leave the board a bit loose so it can wiggle to meet the angle of the wall and spread out the pressure of the ladder so it does not dent the foam. I'm sure somebody makes a gizmo just for this but I generally use a handy scrap of wood.
