Smart Siding Installed Over T111

I have a shed that has old t111 siding that is rotten on the bottom. I was going to cut out the rot, splice in a new piece that is primed with oil base primer, then install Smart Siding over it. Anyone see any thing wrong with this? Thanks.

Sounds okay provided the t1-11 is laying flat. Some of that stuff liked to hump out between the studs, which would telegraph to the surface of the new siding.

Yea, if the integrity is not good anywhere else I will cut it out. My advice is to prime the bottom of T-111, smart siding or any other wood siding with oil based primer. I would likely not have this problem if I had done that.

It's also a good idea to backprime the first few inches of the back side on that bottom row.
