Filling damaged 2x4

So I have a 2x4 that has termite damage, but the damage is about 5" from the end of the 2x4 and the termites have hollowed out about 1/4 of the 2x4 down that length. I am told by a contractor not to fix it because it is a support and it has other members with it and it is holding just fine. I would like to fill it for cosmetic reasons.
I thought about bondo. I have used that for external repair of siding holes, but is there something better I could use that can actually fill the hollow and maybe give it some integrity?

Why do you see the need to fill it? Is it exposed to the weather? Is it on a deck? Can you post a picture or two of the board so we can see what you see?
