Room addition tie-in to brick facade question
Ok folks pretty green with all of this, so don't laugh too hard.
We are getting ready to throw up a room addition that ties into the garage and house. The garage is attached, but staggered leaving about a 14x12 foot area that we will be converting to a room, along with a garage to living space conversion. My question is concerning our current brick facade on the home and putting up a new wall... I assumed we would have to cut the brick facade away from the area that we will tie the new wall in to. But, I had a friend mention to me that it wouldn't be necessary... which just doesn't seem right to me.
So... do we have to cut away the brick facade or can we just tie in above it and seal the brick area?
Thanks in advance

Will the brick wall remain in place and become an interior wall, or will the interior brick wall be demolished and converted to another type of interior wall finish?
