I have a 1952 pier and beam house that has cedar shake siding on top of the original siding. I am trying to figure out if I should go ahead and rip all of it off, instead of getting the cedar shakes ready to paint.
The house has no insulation in the outer walls, which makes me want to rip everything off just so I can put some insulation in between the studs. So the house stays hot or cold
I don't plan on keeping the house for long, so I would like some thoughts As to what others would do in my situation?
I know what I should do, but don't want to spend the money haha

Welcome to the forums.
Put some lipstick on it and send it on its way.

The original siding can't be all that great either; that's why they covered it over with the shakes.
You're expecting to have someone buy it . . . . or just give away it to someone ?

As stated above I wouldn't expect the siding under the wood shingles to be in good shape. What is the condition of the shingle siding? pics would be nice - http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html
