Stucco patch after elastomeric paint

A couple of years ago we had the stucco on our house repaired and then it was painted
with elastomeric paint. Because of a problem with the roof one area got wet continually.
The roof problem has been fixed and now I'm trying to figure out how to repair the stucco.
The only thing I've come up with so far that might work is to put new stucco on keeping
it from overlapping the existing, and after that cures use an elastomeric filler and then
paint.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm not sure why you'd need an elastomeric filler. I'd scrape off any loose paint, repair the stucco and after it's cured - prime and repaint as needed using matching elastomeric paint for the top coat.

I was worried that I needed to keep the new stucco from overlapping the existing painted stucco and therefore leaving a little gap.

I'm a painter not a mason but I've painted lots of stucco repairs that met or even overlapped the surrounding paint. Never knew of any issues with them.

I could well be wrong, but I thought elastomeric paint since it is flexible would present extra issues.

It can but generally enough of the paint is scraped away next to the stucco patch where it won't be an issue.

gap between j channel and window

Hello all. I currently have a siding contractor installing vinyl siding on my home. He used 1/2 inch foam board on the outside, and then installed the siding over that. Now, the siding and foam bored is sticking out from the window and it looks terrible. He now wants to charge me $1000 to fix it. How would you fix this issue? Just use a 1x to fill the gap between the window from and the jchannel? How would you attach the 1x to the jchannel? I'm very upset that this contractor didn't see this as being an issue before he installed, but now I feel like I have to get something done before water gets in there. How should i approach prepping and painting my house?

I've never painted a house before although I've had a lot of experience interior painting and am good at lines, etc. Anyways, I have a tiny 1971 built ranch that's 1 floor and it has those striated cedar shingles and a couple layers of paint that is in many places loose, but hasn't fallen off. The painting doesn't overwhelm me, but the thought of the prep work does a little. I realize it's not going to come out 100% great because whoever previously painted and scraped, etc left many uneven layers where paint could not be taken off for whatever reason. That's ok, I still think it will come out ok and from the street it's not a big deal. So, I'm wondering how I should approach the prep. Should I just scrape, peel, etc, the loose stuff and not get all crazy and try and get everything off? That would drive me crazy this summer I'm sure .... and I've been known to be a perfectionist! In the worse case, say I just paint over everything and do absolutely NO prep. What would happen? Would the new paint hold down some of the loose paint? Like I said, most of the loose stuff has held up and there are VERY few bare areas, besides what I physically attempted to peel by hand and it did peel right off an leave bare striated cedar. I don't want to pressure wash or anything either. Do they have thicker paints that will help hold down and meld everything together? I am going to prep, but my idea is to JUST get the loose, easy to peel, scape stuff off and then prime the bare wood. I don't want to have to spend all summer scraping and peeling paint. My house is so small that I literally could paint the front in maybe a day, just to give you an idea. It's 900 sf. Oh and I just bought a lead testing kit at HD since this house is built in 1971.
