Shade Sail Siding Help

Hello,

I need two anchor points on the side of my house.

Point 1:

See there arrow on the corner of the house. Can I install an eye hook here?

Point 2:

See the arrow point to the fascia. Can I install an eye hook here?

Do I just take a drill to place a small hole to make it easy for me to screw in the hook?

Thanks,

Your first photo is probably a good location for an eye bolt. The second photo probably not so good. It's probably just a fascia board or lightly attached rafter. The upper end is likely only toe nailed into the rim joist and the lower end of it is attached to the fascia. Because it's hanging out in the open they are often not much more than cosmetic. It would be OK for supporting just the shade sail but it could be damaged if the sail were left attached during a thunderstorm and certainly if you leave the sail up and get snow.
