Protecting end cuts on exterior house trim

Hi,
Late last Fall I had a lot of my house trim replaced with pre-primed pine. I did not have a chance to top coat. I am starting that process now. Some of the end are showing signs of checking. Should I apply something to the ends prior to priming/painting?

Thank You

A good coat of paint is probably enough. If I was really concerned I might smear a little caulking into the grain.

They also make a product called Anchorseal/ Anchorseal2 which works well for that sort of thing.
