Can Deck Screws Be Used On Vinyl Shutters?

Do you have to use the shutter locks or would deck screws be all right to use as a replacement on vinyl shutters?

It's vinyl siding with OSB behind that so would a 2" deck screw work?
I did one like this a few years ago and it seems ok but I am not sure if I can replace a bunch like this.

Deck screws are good because they are coated and don't rust. Stainless steel screws are good too.
2" might be a little short. You should allow 1-1/2" to go into the siding and sheathing so add that to whatever thickness the shutters are.

Thank you, that's what I wanted to hear and I will get longer deck or stainless screws.
