Vinyl siding to brick caulk

The vertical boundary where the siding meets the brick veneer is caulked all the way down, but stops a few feet from the bottom. Is this typical / done for some specific reason? Or did they just run out of caulk or forget or something? It should be caulked all the way down to the bottom of the trim, shouldn't it?

I would say they just ran out of caulk.

A good brand of exterior caulk, quad or solar seal!
