Aluminum siding repair puzzle

A healthy wind storm blew off a few rows of my siding, which was attached onto metal mounting strips, nailed into the original siding (asbestos, maybe? hard ceramic looking stuff). The rows that blew off were at the bottom, though, and the siding was installed from the bottom up, so I don't know how to attack fixing it. Never worked with siding before, either. Is this a doable DIY repair, and if so, what's the recommended procedure? Thanks in advance for any advice.

The only way to repair aluminum is to take it all down, starting at the top.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for letting me know, before I dove in and made matters worse.
