Missing siding

Hello All...
I have a house that was sided in 1980 with vertical wood siding and there is a portions that has rotted and/or broke away. We were planning on using a solid color stain on this in the summer. What is the best way to deal with this missing piece of siding? Assuming I can replace that board exactly was thinking some sort of filler?

Looks like you probably need to pull some nails, remove however much of that piece that is left, and replace it with a new piece of wood.

Think I would be able to find the same style of board?

Well, are they individual boards or some type of sheet, like T1-11?

Betting it's a reverse batten board pattern!

OK - I don't know anything about this stuff. Guess I will see if I can find a board...

Can't tell from the photo, but it looks like standard #2 & better pine 1x's, that almost any lumber yard would have. Since i see you're in Canada, you probably keep all the good ones up there.

Just a follow up on this old post. Turns out it is cedar siding and not sheet - just individual nailed boards. Hoping won't be difficult to find.

Your big box stores may or may not have it but an old traditional lumber yard should.
