Fascia at gable peak overlap

Redoing the siding (vinyl) and flashing after a new shingle install.
With a profile like this how does one overlap at the peak so that it isn't just relying on a bead of sealant where the two butt up against each other.
Having a hard time wrapping my head around it due to the angles.
I tried to get some overlap but then ended up with the line being angled instead of straight.

(ignore the gap in the dripedge - whole other deal)

With that profile the only thing you can do is caulk it.

I wondered. About drove myself crazy up on the scaffolding snipping a little piece here and a little piece there trying to get something to work.
I'll pull the fascia that's there, remake some and then put some flashing tape along the wood behind it so that on the off-chance there is some water penetration, it will roll down and onto the housewrap.

Thanks!
