Hi & Hello fellow Farmers
Good to meet you all!
The Wife and I have been growing in the Earth Friendly way
since the early 1970s. We have used the small pieces with
Troy-Bilts Planet Jr seeders & as many of the old tyme tools
we can find. Our goal has been to leave the soil in better
shape than we found it. We have grown the open
pollenated seed not only because we save our own seed but
it just taste better.
Yes we did travel quite a bit up untill 13 years ago when we decided to put down roots. Became a fruit grower Apples,
Cherries, Plums, Asian Pears, all old timey types that are
so tasty.
We pan a little Gold & pick all kinds of berries up in the Mountains. Catch some Rainbow & Brown trout never do get them home just make a little fire, & eat um up right there.
Nice meeting you hope we can share some ideas, we always
like to learn new ways of doing things ourselves.
GG

Welcome to the forums! My wife is the organic gardener, using heirloom seeds, etc. My nice 6 acre valley "lawn" is now scattered with 53 blueberry bushes of different varieties for longer harvest time, numerous fruit trees and a couple of grape/muscadine arbors. Fun cutting grass, now! Look forward to some good insight from you. Keep tuned in.

Thanks for the Welcome .
Hello Chandler
We also put in Blueberries they love water so we put down
soaker hoses. They are in the same rows that we had Red
raspberries. We picked the Raspberries, but I believe it's
going to be self pick for the blueberries. Been real hot
here this season it's even hard to get the Fall crops started
under the shade houses. I have a Sister in Augusta she
said it got so hot they went to Jamaica to cool down
She and her Husband farm also only just one crop, they call
it the Masters; have to leave their house during the harvest.
Well got to go dig to big holes. Just had my 2 white
Tomato Sandwhichs & it's cooler today. Well so long for now.

It's probably been 35 years since I've sat on a tractor doing proper farming. Now days it's just our 7 acres of lawn, garden and pond.
This season I added 2 new hops (bringing me up to 10), 4 new blueberries (up to 10) and we planted six new varieties of heirloom tomatoes in addition to the usual garden stuff. I'm slowly dialing in on my circle of life gardening & brewing. Waste cooling and wash water from brewing waters the garden. Spent grain gets composted or given to neighbors in trade for eggs or poo. The poo and other compost is used to feed the vegetable and hops garden. Now if I could only get the neighbors to grow some 2 row barley...

PD, I used to spot 4 ea 55 gallon drums with lids at our local brewery in Athens, GA. They normally took their grain waste to the dump and paid for dumping it. I took it off for free. The guy asked why, since it was nothing but protein left over after sucking all the sugar from it. Well, duh, I fed it to my cattle.

Iv'e had 3 Troy Bilt Mules so far, & I have supplied 3 Co-ops
with Corn & vegies. All while living in a trailer park with a
Wife & new baby. My Wife was born on a Grape Farm &
Dairy older than the USA. She was planting up until 5 days
before she gave birth to our Son. Being part Native American she was back out in the dirt with our Son on her back in 2 weeks.
So many people have a small piece of flat land they would rather have someone grow Corn & Potatoes + Tomatoes then
share them. Horse owners glad to give you all the poo you can
cart away. Small areas that can be used for Spring, Summer
& Fall is a lot of food. I work where I can in the cold months
Repair my equipment put a Deer or 2 in the freezer. It's a
good busy life.
