can anyone give me a recommendation on what type of compost or something of this nature to use on about an acre of land that gets planted year round with seasonal food plot for deer?

You are using the terminology "green", and green manure, as Scott says, will without a doubt be laden with weed seeds. You want a composted manure that has gone through a heat process to kill all the junk. We use mushroom compost, which is basically sterile, as it has gone through a heat. Composted cow manure in bulk or even chicken manure that has been held in the raising shed for the required time to heat it up and reduce e. coli is great stuff.
