Exterior Faux Paint [wood graining]
I'm new to this forum, but older than anyone who works in paint stores. Many years ago I painted a steel front (exterior) door with a brown paint and then "antiqued" it (now called faux?) with a very dark brown paint, giving the door a beautiful wood-grain appearance.
Now I'm trying to do the same on a fiberglass exterior door. Nowhere can I find an exterior paint for this application. Any ideas and suggestions?
Thanks.

Are you using oil based paints? If so, you can probably find a glaze for oils at SW or you can make your own using mineral spirits and linseed. I just totally forgot that you could use oil based paints, duh.

exterior finish
I have woodgrained quite a few exterior doors here in ny,we basecoat with Moores exterior satin finish. We use turps,a small amout of linseed oil and either a solid body stain or color in oil as our glaze coat .Let dry at least 24 hours and topcoat with spar varnish.Varnish every 3 years or as needed. The old German woodgrainer who taught me many years ago still has doors that were done a long time ago that still look great. Good luck
