Red face Venetian plaster over oil paint?

What I need to know is, can I venetian plaster over latex paint that was applied over oil paint? I love venetian plaster and hope it can solve this messy problem in my kitchen someone else did.

How is the latex adhering? You need a good substrate to VP over, as it is heavy and if the latex isn't adhering well, the VP could lift, peel or bubble. I'd scrape any bad spots, and apply a good oil based primer first, before applying any VP.

Before I help you with an answer, let me ask you this. Is the VP you are using a lime based or synthetic?
