Help - Painting

hello guys! I have primed my walls and now i want to know how i can get the black finish in the image. I was first suggested to glaze the walls and that i would need a base color of grey and then after apply black and use a rag to sort of dab it in order to get the effect it has in the image. Another suggestion, i got was exactly the same except to have black as a base and after apply the grey. What do you guys think?

Welcome to the forums!

I've never done a lot of faux finishing but what you've been told sounds about right. Most paint stores [not paint depts] can offer sound advice on both technique and materials to use. Hopefully some of the other members will have better advice for you.
