Looking for options for wood-paneled wall ...

I'd like some suggestions for the wood-paneled wall in the following photo. I'm not interested in spending a ton of money...would love to keep it under $100.

Remove plywood (your labor is free) and find out what condition the wall is in behind there. Even if you needed to replace the drywall and have to buy a bucket of mud and a couple knives you can keep it under $100 in materials easily, assuming you provide all the labor.

Yeah I could do that but I like the idea of having this section of wall be a contrast to the other walls.

Ok, then what's the question? Stands out like a sore thumb. Paint it wall color.

If you intend to paint the paneling, sanding lightly and applying a solvent based primer will insure the top coat adheres well.
