Wood Panels Over Chain Link Fence

I have an existing chain link fence that is in good condition. I want to buy the 6' tall wooden stockade fence panels and attach them to the chain link structure already in place. Any ideas or tips?

Take the chain link fabric off -- your posts are set.

You might get lucky and have the posts be spaced perfectly for the pre-made panels, but chances are, THEY AREN'T!

2 shoices.

You could get long (16' or 20') 2X4's for the top and bottom rails, use Simpson Brackets to connect them, then attach the panels to those rails.

Or you could just buy the lumber and build the fence, attaching it to those rails, and forget the pre-made panels.

Why not use the pre-made panels?

No problem using the pre-made panels.

Advantage, of course, is that they will be faster, plus will have a more consistant grade of lumber.

Disadvantage is that they will cost more than just buying the lumber and building it yourself from scratch.

Your choice.
