Installing Fence Posts

I am getting ready to install a 6' cedar privacy fence and I was wondering what I should use to set the posts in. I was wondering which to use: concrete, dirt or crushed gravel. I am planning on putting the post 30" to 36" deep. I would prefer to use either dirt or crushed gravel over concrete because it would be easier but I am not sure if that would be sturdy enough.

You are planning on burying wood below grade. It really doesn't matter WHAT you set it it -- it'll rot in about 15 years!!

I use metal posts and set them in concrete, then fence between them. I s'pose that at some point my grandkids will have to replace the posts -- in the mean time, I just have to worry about replacing the fence sections.
