Question Concrete vrs. dirt post hole filling

I'm building a fence for my animals. The fence will have wooden posts and metal fencing. I won't have large animals in the fenced off area. I don't know if dirt will offer enough support or if I will need to use concrete. I will be so grateful if anyone can help me.

It all depends on how deep you go and what kind of "dirt" you have.

A post set in concrete is always stonger.

What is good enough also depends on the animals.

Usually a post set in concrete won't last as long as one in dirt, but as Dick pointed out, concrete will make the post more secure.
