Wink way to make gate swing closed?

I have people coming into my back yard for various service, and I want to make my gate swing closed on its own. Sometimes they forget to close it, and I don't want my dog to get out. Is there anything I can do?

Hello Jenny!

You need one of these which are usually available for purchase at a local home center, i.e. Home Depot, Lowes, etc

I recently had to make a similar repair on a gate that needed to be self-closing, and I used spring loaded gate hinges. they look just like the usual big black hinges that you see on gates, but you turn and adjustment on top of the hinge one notch, then insert a pin, which "loads" the spring. 3 of those on a gate and it snaps right closed. I omitted the latch (since it always springs closed) so you can just pull it open. The latch was the part that was always giving them trouble- never catching, etc. They are much happier with a gate that stays closed!
