Question inexpensive fencing

What is the most inexpensive, but effective type of fencing material to put in my backyard for my small dog to run around but not be able to jump over or through?

Chain link fence is generally the most economical. Plus strong and doesn't rot or need painting. A bit ugly though; that's the down side.

2x4 fencing wire is cheaper than chain link although not as durable. You'll find it at most big box stores near where the chain link is. It comes in 50' & 100' rolls and 3' & 4' heights. Some are vinyl coated, others are not.

I checked into chain link once a couple years ago and it was $7/foot - installed. Not cheap.

Fencing

Marksr makes a good suggestion. What he is referrring to is called welded fence fabric. Its only drawback is that it is difficult to install on uneven ground. Good luck with your project.

Also sometimes called welded wire fence. Cheap, but a bit difficult to work with as wirepuller notes. Also even uglier than chain link IMHO.

How big a dog are we talking about; possibly chicken wire would work if it's pretty small.
