Aluminum Driveway Gates

I'm interested in putting in automatic driveway gates, and like aluminum ones for their lightness and resistance to corrosion. Does anyone know 1) whether they are more likely to bend/distort due to operator arm movement; 2) whether welding on additional support for the arm is possible and inexpensive? I know it's easy enough to weld to iron or steel, but I'm wondering whether aluminum is altogether different.
Thanks!

Properly designed, aluminum gates will do just fine.

Steel is welded -- aluminum is heliarced. The end result is about the same, but the PRICE is a lot different!!
