Vinyl fence: why no mfgr ID on fence parts?
I just had some 3-rail vinyl fence installed. The installer told me it is made by Kroy ("the best" he says).
I see no "Kroy" (or any other mfgr name) stamped on the fence materials. How do I know if it really is Kroy? Everything we buy has a mfgr's name stamped on it..why not vinyl fencing?
So I called Kroy. They gave me a story about 'nobody will pay extra for Kroy, so we don't put our name on it'. That's a weird comment, and I don't buy it. If Kroy fencing is 'the best', they should be proud to put their name on it. There are many comments these days about the quality of different vinyl mfgrs, so I don't think it's all mfgr'd in the same factory either....
I was hoping that someone who knows this industry can comment on this.
thanks

rrr1234,
Welcome to the forums.
Kroy is one of the top mfgrs. of vinyl products. No, they don't put their name on it. About the only way that you can be sure that you really got Kroy vinyl is to ask the installing contractor who his supplier is (assuming that he is simply an installing contractor and not the actual distributor).
If you can remove a post cap, get to a rail end, or have a scrap that you can see the wall thickness of, measure it (or take a scrap) and compare it to the product offered at one of the big box stores. I have had several customers who have horses who know the quality difference between Kroy and a lesser quality product. Kroy fencing will keep their horses in a lot longer than anybody else's vinyl will.
