Back to Back Fence Gates

I'm installing a stockade fence on metal posts and would like to install back to back gates on the same post. One of the gates is large for big equipment and the other is a walk in gate. I installed the large gate and came to realize that when I install the other gate, the gate hardware limits how far the gate will open. I'm using the pin style hinges.

I can't find back to back hinges on the net. Does this hardware exist? Can this be done?

thanks
Gary

Gates

Sounds to me like you need to swing one of the gates in the opposite direction.

I know what you are talking about my neighbor has that same set up that you are looking to do. If I recall right the large gate opens out to the front yard and the walk through gate opens up in towards the backyard. Not sure if you are looking into having both gates open the same way. But you can try looking into this. Hope this helps

Back to back gates, swinging off the same post?

I am just assuming that you want to install one gate of a different size than the other, both swinging within the same panel? kind of like a " doggy door" Or perhaps this is something different?
I think I need more information.. a picture drawing perhaps.

In your post you suggest the gates are to to be two different sizes? A large gate, a smaller gate..

The only way I can imagine this working is if no matter what, you open both gates to pass through the gate opening. And that being the case, why have two gates swing off one post?
There is a piece of this question/answer missing...

I wish I can help... there is something missing in the puzzle.

I was talking about a larger gate off one side of the pole and smaller walk gate off of the other side of the pole (see illustration attempt below). The problem I was running into is that hardware from one gate would prevent the other gate from opening far enough. I believe I found what I was looking for. If I have success when I install it I will let you know.

.___.___ ___.__.___.
F DG DG WG F

. = Fence Pole
F = Fence Panel
DG = Drive Gates
WG = Walk Gate

I'd put in a 36" man gate on one post and a 10 - 12' equipment gate on the other post. Even if you were to configure two gates back to back you'd still have to open both gates top gain access.

Found What I was looking for

In the attached photos you will see what I was looking for. The one shows the usual gate hardware that projects too far and limits gate opening when used back to back. The other gate hardware uses a u-bolt and leaves more room for back to back gates to open. Although I could lose the u-bolts and use a straight bolt and put them truly back to back I'm going to use the u-bolts and one hinge will just be about a half inch below the other. When its all done and if necessary I will cut the excess thread on the u-bolt to give me more room for opening the gate.

Thanks
Gary
