Attaching steel fence posts to wood fence without brackets?

I am building a 6 foot high wooden privacy fence and will be using steel fence posts 2 3/8" OD. I would love to use Oz post brackets, but cannot find them here in Canada. I do not want to pay $200 in shipping and other dutys to get them shipped here from the US. Can I use tension bands? How would I go about attaching the post to the wooden fence without brackets? Any Ideas? I would also like, if possible, to hide the metal post. I would love to hear some feedback, as I am starting this project next week.

Thanks.

Drill the posts and use through bolts.
