Gate to side of house question

I have a fence installed parallel to my house along the side. it is a 6ft privacy wooden fence. It has 4x4 pressure treated posts every 6ft. What is the best way to add a gate from that fence to the side of my house. It's about a 4ft gap. Should I put in a post right next to the foundation or should I attach a pressure treated piece of wood to the side of the house and attach the gate brackets to one of the fence posts? Thanks

Door #2, since the footer of the house will probably extend out several inches preventing you from digging a hole right up next to the house. I would use the firmly attached 2x pressure treated lumber to act as the hinge side and latch it on the post 4' away. One reason for this is the potential of the gate sagging from the post. It won't sag if held firmly to the building.
